Kahn Design Build Spotlight: Rubystone Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS Celebrating 77 Years of Porsche

One of the highlights to emerge from the Kahn Design workshop over the past year
is a specially commissioned Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS, created by Afzal Kahn to celebrate 77 years of Porsche sports car heritage. Finished in Paint to Sample Rubystone, the vehicle brings together a series of carefully considered design elements that pay tribute to the history of one of the most influential sports car brands ever created.
The project started in the summer of 2025 to mark the 77th anniversary of Porsche’s first sports car, standing as a fully realised tribute to the marque’s enduring design philosophy. At the centre of the concept is the 911 itself, chosen for its position as the halo product within the Porsche family. The Targa variant adds an additional layer of heritage, its unmistakable silhouette defined by the iconic brushed silver roll hoop first introduced during the 1960s. Beneath the rear deck sits the unmistakable flat-six boxer engine, a defining element of the 911’s identity that continues to power the modern generation of the car.
The exterior is finished in Rubystone (PTS), one of the most recognisable Porsche colours of the 1990s. Complementing the bodywork is a set of Kahn Design forged Cup1 wheels, measuring 8.5 x 20 inches at the front and 11.5 x 21 inches at the rear. Finished in Hyper Silver Gloss, the wheels reinterpret the visual language of the original Cup wheel design while maintaining a distinctly modern presence. Satin black heritage graphics run along the side bodywork, including a central Porsche bonnet stripe and a side roundel outline carrying the number 77.
Inside, the cabin introduces a bespoke material composition designed specifically for the vehicle. A slate grey leather interior is paired with newly developed houndstooth soft touch fabric inserts assembled from deconstructed Rubystone tones. Red and blue elements within the fabric visually combine to echo the Rubystone exterior colour, creating a layered interpretation of the signature shade. Additional highlights include Rubystone paint detailing and a hand-stitched carbon fibre Kahn steering wheel, reinforcing the vehicle’s handcrafted character.
The number 77 references the years since June 8th 1948, when Porsche introduced the Porsche 356. That car established the sports car philosophy that would ultimately lead to the creation of the 911 and its modern evolution with this commissioned 2025 992 generation Targa GTS.
