Ten Years On: Honouring the Land Rover Defender

29 يناير 2026

By Douglas Topott

Today, 29th January 2026, marks ten years since production of the iconic Land Rover Defender came to an end. A decade later, Chelsea Truck Company continues to honour this legendary vehicle through bespoke Defender conversions that celebrate its design, heritage, and unmatched character.

Our journey began with the Defender, recognising a gap in the market and becoming one of the first companies to offer truly bespoke aftermarket products to enthusiasts worldwide. While others focused solely on improving performance for a vehicle already renowned for its rugged, uncompromising nature, we approached it differently. At CTC, style, design, and luxury are just as important as capability.

Many regarded the Defender’s silhouette as untouchable, but we recognised its potential. By working with the vehicle’s original design language, we have created modern interpretations that preserve the core qualities of a Land Rover while enhancing its aesthetic presence. Our renowned X-Lander front grille integrates seamlessly with utilitarian wide wings, featuring exposed bolts, integrated apertures, and upgraded side and bonnet vents. Every detail, from crosshair exhaust systems with heavy-duty mudflaps to front bumpers with built-in LED lighting, is designed with purpose. These elements amplify the British military-inspired heritage of the original while delivering contemporary refinement, without compromising functionality.

Inside, Chelsea Truck Company and KAHN® are world-famous for transforming vehicle interiors. We offer countless bespoke seat configurations, premium lighting and audio systems, custom screens, headliners, and storage solutions. Every seat is upholstered in the finest Italian leathers, tweeds, and technical fabrics, combining durability with luxury. Our interiors are as stylish and hard-wearing as they are comfortable, reflecting the high-end craftsmanship that has become synonymous with CTC.

In recent years, we have embraced Land Rover’s heritage through our HERITAGE Remastered programme. These builds celebrate the simplicity and elegance of early Series Land Rovers, drawing inspiration from classic mesh grilles and steel wheels, such as the iconic HUE 166, while reinterpreting them for today’s enthusiasts.

Our Flying Huntsman brand, the coachbuilding division of CTC, is synonymous with some of the world’s most extreme and luxurious Defenders. From 6x6 models to the Longnose 105 and Homage II builds, every vehicle is handcrafted in the UK and delivered globally.

With 6.2L V8 engines, bespoke extended chassis and running gear, seating for up to nine passengers, and fully customised interiors, these vehicles represent the pinnacle of British craftsmanship, luxury, and bespoke automotive design. They celebrate traditional coachbuilding, a craft that is becoming increasingly rare in the UK.

Ten years on from the end of Defender production, Chelsea Truck Company continues to honour, evolve, and redefine this British automotive icon. Our builds celebrate heritage, showcase world-class materials and craftsmanship, and push the boundaries of modern design, keeping the spirit of the Land Rover Defender alive for generations to come...
