Project Kahn Launches a Universal Electric Sliding Glass Sunroof
By Douglas Topott·
Project Kahn has launched a universal electric sliding glass sunroof, a complete assembly designed to bring an open-air option to vehicles that left the factory without one. Finished in dark tinted glass, it sits flush with the roofline. Closed, it gives the clean, uninterrupted look of a glass roof. Open, it delivers a fully open cabin.
From Defender Icon to Universal Design
The design builds on a product the company has already proven. Project Kahn, through Chelsea Truck Company, previously introduced a fixed glass sunroof for the classic Land Rover Defender. It found its audience among owners who wanted more light in the cabin without altering the character of the vehicle.
Now With an Electric Sliding Mechanism
That original design has now been modernised and extended with an electric sliding mechanism. The glass opens and closes at the touch of a switch rather than remaining fixed in place. The principle is unchanged. The vehicle applications are considerably broader.
Designed With Visual Restraint
Visual restraint has been central to the design. The dark tinted glass panel keeps the roofline understated from the outside, avoiding the busy trim and contrasting frames that so often give retrofit sunroofs away.
Light Without Glare
From within, it admits natural light while keeping glare in check. The effect is a cabin that feels larger and brighter, with no visible compromise to the exterior.
A Flush, Uncluttered Finish
A flush, uncluttered finish was the priority throughout. A sunroof of this kind should read as part of the car, not something added to it.

Which Vehicles Can It Be Fitted To?
Designed to suit a broad range of SUVs and saloons, the sunroof can be fitted to vehicles from across the market, including those within the Chelsea Truck Company catalogue. It is aimed squarely at owners of vehicles without a factory sunroof, offering the same open-air experience without the compromise of a generic, poorly integrated unit.
For a car that has been carefully specified in every other respect, it is the finishing detail that changes how the vehicle feels to use, every single day.
