KAHN® Hammerhead FORGED Wheels for the Porsche Macan: Two Faces of One Machine

By Douglas Topott· May 29, 2026

There are wheels, and then there are statements.

KAHN® Design's forthcoming Hammerhead FORGED wheel programme for the Porsche Macan is very much the latter. Two distinct configurations. One shared design language. And a clear message: the petrol-powered Macan is far from finished.

Why the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Macan Deserves Your Attention

While the rest of the performance SUV world charges headlong into electrification, KAHN® Design has done something quietly rebellious. It has turned its attention to the internal combustion Macan, a platform that, in the words of the British coachbuilder, remains one of the most overlooked enthusiast SUVs currently in production. Compact proportions, genuine all-wheel drive capability and real driver involvement, all wrapped in Porsche engineering. The numbers may not make headlines, but the experience very much does.

The Hammerhead Design: Form Meets Function

The Hammerhead wheel itself is a deliberate departure from traditional Porsche wheel architecture. A bold 9-spoke layout is combined with an outer turbofan-inspired structure that brings a distinctly technical, motorsport-focused character to the design. The spoke geometry draws simultaneously from rally engineering and functional aerodynamic surfacing, producing a wheel that reads as purposeful rather than decorative. Finished in Satin Black with a raw aluminium outer ring stripe and fitted with KAHN®'s self-levelling centre caps, the result is restrained, confident and thoroughly considered.

Both forged variants carry a substantial 1,250kg load rating per wheel, a figure more commonly associated with armoured or heavy-duty applications. Yet thanks to the forged construction process, unsprung mass remains low, and rigidity remains high, exactly as you would expect from a serious performance wheel programme. Designed in the United Kingdom, the Hammerhead is part of a wider multi-platform forged programme that also encompasses applications for vehicles, including the Defender.

Two Sizes. Two Characters. One Platform.

The Hammerhead will be offered in both 20-inch and 22-inch configurations, and the distinction between them goes well beyond diameter.

The 22-inch variant is the fast road weapon. Conceived for high-speed touring, demanding B-road work and urban performance styling, the larger diameter sharpens the Macan's stance while enhancing steering response, rigidity and road balance. This is the specification for drivers who want their Macan to feel like the sports car it secretly is.

The 20-inch variant tells a different story. With its slightly smaller diameter allowing for a taller tyre profile and greater compliance across broken surfaces, this configuration positions the Macan as a modern all-terrain performance vehicle. Think historic desert rally endurance machinery, reimagined through a contemporary Porsche lens. Less luxury crossover, more safari machine. The kind of vehicle that is equally at home on loose gravel as it is on a sweeping A-road.

The Teaser Campaign: Two Macans, Two Worlds

KAHN® Design's teaser imagery reinforces the duality of the programme with characteristic visual confidence. One Macan sits against smooth tarmac as a refined, high-speed road machine. The other is coated in sand and dirt beneath the cliffs of the British coastline, an aggressive off-road interpretation of the same platform. Together, they represent two opposing but equally authentic expressions of what the petrol Macan can be.

What Comes Next

The Hammerhead forged wheel programme remains in teaser phase ahead of its full release, but KAHN® Design has confirmed that a broader off-road-focused Macan programme is already in development. The future package is expected to further explore the untapped potential of the ICE Macan platform, building a case for it as a modern enthusiast SUV with genuine future collector appeal, particularly as the wider industry continues its march toward electric power.

For those who still believe that the best performance SUVs should sound like something, the KAHN® Design Hammerhead programme for the Porsche Macan makes a very compelling argument.
