We are seeking talented and enthusiastic Automotive Design Interns to join our team for a 6-month internship. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and creative environment.

Our internships provide you with a unique opportunity to apply what you have learned at university. Use your knowledge in practice and live your passion for the automotive industry.

• Assist and observe the entire design phase from concept creation of final product

• Support with creation of design ideas and concepts

• Assist the Design Team in the creation of creative direction presentations, product designs and material/innovation research

• Complete CAD revisions, colour updates and technical packages

All work will be highly confidential in nature and may not be shared or distributed outside of the studio. Please be advised, Interns will report to our design manager at the Kahn Headquarters in Bradford, West Yorkshire where candidates will be based for the duration of their internship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design proposals for Kahn Group projects, ranging from design themes for add-on components all the way up to an entirely Coach built car
  • Create compelling sketches both freehand and digitally
  • You will have the opportunity to work with our team from the sketch phase to concept modelling in Alias, and possibly through prototyping and the production of parts
  • Work with our team to create designs for future projects
  • Interns may also be called upon for other design tasks (graphic design, product design, etc.) based on your skillset

Skills and Qualifications

  • Pursuing or have a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in Transportation Design, Vehicle Design, Automotive Design, or Industrial Design
  • Strong ability to work on both exterior and interior design
  • High level of skill taking 2D sketches in freehand and Photoshop formats to 3D modelling in Alias
  • High level of understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Technical knowledge of prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly processes as it relates to automobiles is a plus.
  • Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships.
  • Exceptional visual and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects.
