Thanks to the fame of The Knowledge and the high-standards of the sector, the London taxi trade is seen around the world as the gold standard in moving people around cities.

As one of the world’s most famous vehicles; its rounded shape, prominent headlights, upright grille and flowing bodywork are instantly recognisable – a timeless design loved around the globe.

The London Taxi Company (LTC) recently announced that it would be ending production of its diesel TX4 cabs with a run-out edition of 300 Limited Edition taxis and was looking to commission a designer to create a handful of ultra exclusive vehicles.

The LTC decided to award the commission to Afzal Kahn having been impressed by his significant achievements in the industry.

The Kahn Group can now announce that four of the five limited run of luxury 'Last of Line' black cabs, designed by renowned British automotive designer Afzal Kahn, have been sold and only one remains.

An LTC spokesperson said: “There was only one person for the job. Afzal Kahn is famous for his original designs and willingness to push the boundaries and we admire his ability to capture the essence of a vehicle's character. We believe he is the best designer to give this iconic vehicle the send off it deserves.”

Afzal Kahn has been a pioneer of automotive design for almost two decades, having created an array of vehicles for some of the world’s most exclusive clients. He has led some truly ground-breaking projects, including the building of fully coach-built vehicles such as The Vengeance, a hand crafted aluminium bodied supercar, and the Flying Huntsman 6x6, a six-wheel-drive luxury off-roader.

Having appeared on several television programmes including National Geographic’s Supercar Megabuild and BBC’s The One Show, Mr Kahn is highly regarded in the industry, having also received numerous awards including a lifetime achievement award from Car Dealer Magazine.

The final ‘Last of Line’ model is a re-imagined TX4; designed with a super luxurious finish and understated design features.

Adorning a bespoke rooftop light-box and other elegant design touches, such as heritage inspired paintwork and luxurious leather, the ‘Last of Line’ aims to utilise classic design cues to surpass luxury limousines as the ultimate way to travel.

The final vehicle is truly unique and will be badged ‘one of one’. As the very last TX4 ever made, it is expected to become a hugely desirable - and valuable - collector’s item.

Afzal Kahn said: “While it is sad to see a beautiful, iconic vehicle reach the end of its life, it is a great honour to be given the opportunity to refine and celebrate what is truly one of the most famous cars in the world. I look forward to embarking on a journey with a one more client who wishes to possess their own piece of British history.”
